Book’s Donation from SOS

Last month was special for Sekolah Menengah Pertama Leuser (Leuser Secondary Greenschool), a school that was initiated by Orangutan Information Centre (OIC) with the support of Sumatran Orangutan Society that supported to fundraise to help to make this project came true. This school was built on the land purchased by fundraising by SOS and Lush last year. Now, we have 17 students who join us at this school. These kids live in Pantai Buaya village, Langkat District. This district is one of the biggest encroachment spots in North Sumatera’s area. The special of last month was these kids finally able to meet some people who have helped to establish the school that they attend to happen. SOS brought 8 of their supporters to visit the project site of OIC that they supported this year.

“This was me in Sumatra visiting the new forest school we have fundraised for. If parents help with reforestation and the establishment of the new permaculture and agorforesty demonstration site, their children get to attend the secondary school free of charge. A brilliant project” said Rachel, SOS development director eho also jlined the trip. On the occasion, The SOS team visited our Sekolah Menengah Pertama Alam Leuser (Leuser Secondary Green School), hang around with the students and donated some books to the school library. By seeing the wide smile, we could tell how happy everyone was! Keep supporting us to protect Leuser Ecosystem!
