A joint team of GLNP authorities. Forest and Wildlife Patrol Unit (ForWPU) team, WCS, and local people were chopping down the illegal Rubber plantation inside Gunung Leuser National Park of Leuser Ecosystem on 23rd-24th August 2017.

With the total area of 4 hectares, this land has been occupied for more than 10 years. These illegal Rubber trees were planted by inserting them around the forest. Therefore, this illegal plantation could not be seen easily among the forest.

The information about this plantation was achieved from the ForWPU Patrol activity this year. The step of the chopping down the illegal rubber plantation was the followed action after the finding. Soon, OIC will start the restoration program on this degraded land. Keep supporting us to bring back rainforest in Leuser Ecosystem!
