Isolated in Plantation, a Female Orangutan Translocated into Safety in Leuser Forest

Isolated in Plantation, a Female Orangutan Translocated into Safety in Leuser Forest

Our HOCRU team together with Gunung Leuser National Park and BKSDA North Sumatra authorities rescued a female orangutan isolated in a small rubber plantation that is surrounded by oil palm plantation on Friday, 20/10/17.

The female orangutan has been sedated and had the general health check up by OIC HOCRU’s vet

This plantation is located in Sei Serdang village, Langkat, North Sumatra, about 5 km away from Leuser forests, not possible for orangutan to come across the forests.

Finding out the orangutan had a good health condition, OIC HOCRU would translocate ths orangutan back to the wild

The orangutan was found healthy and no injuries so she was translocated into Leuser forest same day. She has been given a second chance at life to roam and live in his real forest home. Back into safety, as any wildlife suppose to be.

The orangutan was translocated into the wild safely on the same day

The success of this rescue operation overwhelmes us, on the other hand the fact that we had to conduct the rescue puts us in the sad circumstance. Surely, this rescue is not going to be the last. Keep supporting us to fight for them!
